Costco Kirkland Signature Mozzarella

While at Costco today, I picked up a 5lb bag of part skim pre-shredded mozzarella. For $10, it's quite the deal.

Normally, I avoid pre-shredded cheeses like the plague. I don't care for the additives and the melt is never right. Since I will be making a lot of test pies over the next week or two, I decided to give it a try.

I was impressed with the results. Taste was great, melt was good. The only problem is that the cheese was part skim instead of whole milk.

Raj, here's a mozza that comes really, really close to Grande. Made by Cascade Dairy in Hayward and used to be sold at Trader Joe's. They make both version, whole-milk and part-skim.

Wow.. I love North Beach cheese. Great price too. I don't have a Costco business membership. yet... :-)

I do have the biz membership but the next Costco biz center is in Hayward and I'm too lazy to drive all the way down there for a block of cheese. When I contacted them, asking why their cheese isn't longer available at TJ's I was told that it is only available in Foodservice for now. They may bring it back to the retail level at some point.
