Domestic vs. imported buffalo mozzarella

Based on everything I've read about Buffalo mozzarella, it seems like the domestic US variety isn't quite as good as the Italian stuff. I've only had Italian and I'm guessing it was almost a week old by the time I got my hands on it. How does domestic buffalo mozzarella compare to its Italian counterpart? The US made stuff will definitely be fresher, but I'm wondering about the quality.

Nick it is actually from a different animal. There is very little water buffalo milk in the US. Costco during the season carries a brand called Garafalo on the west cost. Most Pizza places will use a frozen IQF. product. This assures consistency throughout the year. The US fresh mozzarella is made from cows milk.
