Dough is sticking to proofing boxes

How do I keep the dough balls from sticking to the containers? When I try to take out the dough to use it, it is sticking and very difficult to work with.

Hi Amanda,

Using a dough/bowl scraper should help. Also, what recipe are you using?

The plastic ones work best for proofing boxes. Part of it is technique too. The more you practice, the easier it will be.

Your goal should be to remove the ball with as little disruption as possible. If you find the dough is sticking to your fingers, you can dip your finger with some water before handling the dough balls.

Try a really thin coat of vegetable or olive oil in the containers/boxes. 3-4 drops should be enough. It works very well with no impact on the flavor of the dough and it should solve that problem. And like Raj said, a dough scraper is a must-have tool.

If you're using regular Ziploc/Tupperware containers, turn them upside down over a floured surface and let gravity do the rest.
