French LeSaffre ADY yeast at Trader Joe's

Just got back from a trip to Trader Joe's and came back with 9 packets (21gr ea.) of my personal favorite ADY from SAF. It blows Fleischmann's and Red Star out of the water, imho.

Price was a steal at $.99 for three packets. Not bad.

Just thought I'd share with those who have a TJ's nearby or in their area.

Wow. That's a killer deal. The Fleischmann's is closer to $2 for 3 envelopes. I was under the impression that Red Star and SAF are one and the same?

Will definitely pick some up next time I'm at Trader Joe's. Is it in the flour aisle?

Forgot to answer your question Raj :)

Yes, it's right where the flour is.

Red Star is part of the SAF group but as far as yeast goes, it's inferior to the SAF one, imo.

In 2004, Lesaffre and Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) created the joint-venture that the company operates under today.

Good to know Mike. Thomas Keller (French Laundry, Bouchon) also recommends SAF in his cookbook Bouchon Bakery. The Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc cookbooks are both amazing IMO, and are chock full of good information about baking and cooking in general.
