My kitchen scale is broken, how can I easily substite it?

Hey Guys,

My kitchen scale has broken. I have bought new one yet. Is there any way I could measure all the ingredients more or less precisely without scale? Any ideas will save my day:)

Best regards,
Olek

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a great way. Are you looking to make an existing recipe that's in grams or ounces?

If you've made a fair amount of dough, you'll be able to get close just by adding water or flour during the mix to get the right texture. But, it's by no means precise.

Damn:) I thought there might have been some way.

I thought I could have had some special container (e.g. my favorite mug) and measured that it contains let's say 150 grams of flour and 125 grams of water. I use fresh yeast, so I could say (more or less;-)) how much of it is 5 grams. But still flours have different "density" so one time it would be 150 g, another 160 g ;-)

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Best regards,
Olek
