No Stone and no Pizza steel - can I use cast iron frypan in oven instead? I'm just starting with the master dough recipe.


I don't have a stone or a pizza steel and they are too much money for me at the moment. Can I used a cast iron fry pan instead? It seems like it might work but would like to know if this is a reasonable solution. I'm just starting making pizza from scratch so am going to start with the master dough this weekend.

A stone or steel would be ideal, but I think you'll still get decent results with the cast iron pan if you use the Cast Iron pizza recipe in the Pizza Bible. It's a little bit different than the Master Dough recipe, but equally delicious.

You can also try the Master Dough in a cast iron pan. It'll turn out good, but will look and be a bit different than a "regular" pizza.

Thanks Raj. I'll try that. The dough isn't a lot different from the looks of it - its the cooking part that will be fun!
