Poolish vs sourdough starter

I am a newbie, and have a simple Q concerning the differences between using a poolish or other similar like ichias-yeast starter and to use a sourdough as starter for my pizza?
Would you say it is a matter of taste/style or is one better?

Hi Carl, poolish and starter are both types of "pre-ferments". A poolish is typically made from a commercial yeast such as active dry yeast (ADY) or instant dry yeast (IDY). The starter on the hand is made from a wild yeast. There will be differences in flavor, but one isn't better than the other.
